Physical Attributes and Materials Used - A Blackburn Orlit house comes in a 2 storey semi-detached and terraced construction. Roof is of a low pitched gable roof covered in panel roof tiles. The internal part of the roof is constructed of steel trusses and with bituminous felt.
- Foundation is approximately 3 foot thick
- Ground floor consists of concrete.
- First floor is built with timber tongue and grove boarding on PRC beams on sleeper walls
- Ceilings are made of plasterboard and supported with 3x2 intersecting battens.
- The exterior part of a Blackburn Orlit house consists of PRC beams (not seen) with PC panels. Internal walls are pc panel, wood battens and plasterboard.
