Physical Attributes and Materials Used - Unity Type 1 houses come in 2 storey semi-detached and terraced construction. Roof is of a medium pitched hipped or gable roof covered in concrete roof tiles. The internal part of the roof is constructed of Timber trusses and with bituminous felt.
- Foundation is approximately 4 foot thick on a floating concrete raft
- Ground floor consists of timber boarding on concrete.
- First floor is built with timber tongue and grove boarding on RSJ floor support beams fixed by twin steel plates and tied in with cross steel supports
- Ceilings are made of plasterboard and supported with 3x2 intersecting wood with RSJ's.
- The exterior part of a Unity house consists of PRC columns/lintels with stack bonded PC panels and Splayed PC blocks to corners . Internal walls are made of standard wall blocks.

- In come cases corrosion of steelwork at interface between PRC Columns and RSJ first floor beams
